When it looks good but doesn’t feel right…
I stepped into the dating world in 2020 after ending my 8 year relationship & went out with 2 men.
The first guy & I ended up falling fast & hard, which typically is NOT like me. We were together for almost a year.
On paper, he was not what I thought I wanted. He was super unhealthy & a workaholic but oh my goodness did it feel right. My nervous system relaxed around him & I felt safe. My body could not help but respond to him. It was almost an immediate feeling of home & unlike anything I had experienced in many ways. WHEW! It was yummy
The other guy I went out with checked almost every one of my boxes but it felt wrong. I had a feeling there was something up with him but I didn’t know what. On the last date we had, one of my girlfriends met him & confirmed feeling the same way, without being prompted by me.
Moral of this story – no matter what it is – a partner, job, circumstance, a decision that needs to be made – it may look good but how does it feel in your body — and have we cultivated the awareness to know that there’s a difference?
It’s taken time to trust myself in this way over what my head tries to rationalize.
What can make it tricky about trusting these feelings is sometimes there’s no hard evidence to support. It’s just a feeling, a knowing.
There’s typically nothing logical about it & it’s not unless you choose to ignore that feeling and continue down the path that you find out exactly WHY you felt like that…and let’s be honest, do those situations ever end well?! Well, usually they end in lessons which we need too.
Sometimes things that do feel right can end up not the way you thought they would. Usually these are growth opportunities/ lessons our souls need to continue to expand and evolve, which was the case with the first guy that did feel right. It ended up being a big lesson and healing that my soul needed. I may share more on this in another post soon <3
Would love to hear your experiences with this topic <3
